Culture Center

In 1858, the Vicar Colado Fr. Francisco Jorge de Souza built this house, which after restored houses the “House of Culture of Sobral”. In 1989 this Solar dos Figueiredos, as it became known was bought by a merchant who began its demolition, interrupted by a Popular Action filed in the Comarca de Sobral by a group of 20 Sobralenses. In 1991 the project was sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Sobral, having an architectural project donated by the architects Herbert Rocha and Edilson Aragão. The elucidar staircase was designed by the Finnish architect Paula Holmstrom, at the time intern at Herbert Rocha Architects.
